Carrying Out My GAME Plan

In order to continue with my GAME plan to design and develop technology enriched learning environments, I have begun keeping a log of the interesting ideas I come across from colleagues. I always comment on the great ideas Walden colleagues implement in their classes, but I often forget and move on to the next great idea. I am going to become more organized, placing strategies within content standard folders for use year after year. I have also looked into courses offered by my school district as part of our Teach21 program. I have completed the program, but as technology changes, so do the course offerings and there are some interesting areas I believe could enrich my lessons. I also plan to seek out other professional development opportunities.

The second part of my GAME plan is to exhibit leadership in developing technology skills in others and our community. I have contacted some of the class presenters for our technology program and have inquired as to their path. There may be more coursework on the horizon for me. I also continue to monitor my technology related subscriptions through my RSS reader, to keep at the forefront of new developments.

  1. With regard to the second part of your GAME plan, I am doing the exact same things. Every third Tuesday of the month is “Tech Tuesday” for the faculty in my high school. Before that day, we are offered about five different workshops to choose from, which are focused on utilizing different technologies in the classroom, and we choose which one we would like to attend. Then, we meet in a designated room, and we learn new things from the presenter, which is a faculty member. Since I feel fairly confident with different technologies, as part of the action portion of my GAME plan, I am becoming one of the technology instructors. This will give me the ability to “spread the wealth,” with all of the good information that I am finding online, and in this Walden program.

I also subscribe to a number of blogs about technology and/or education. What are some of the ones that you subscribe to? I included some of my favorites below.

  2. Lee, I have been doing the same with the ideas we get from other Walden students. The courses are good, but the comments from other teachers are just as valuable because we are getting ideas that have been used and have been successful. I think it is great that you are have the insightfulness and are willing to go back to retake tech courses because they change. So many teachers will take the course and think when it is done, it is done. Continuing to improve as a teacher is the sign of a great teacher. You will undoubtedly fulfill your GAME plan.

  3. That's great, Scott and sounds like time well spent. We have something similar during our planning on Tuesday's. Our school's technology specialist comes in and shares something new. If she has nothing to share, she helps us with things like our webpages, running reports from different programs, or SmartBoard lessons.
